HOW DIGESTION WORKS

                        HOW DIGESTION WORKS

THE NUTRIENTS IN FOOD ARE LOCKED UP IN GIANT MOLECULES THAT OUR BODIES CAN'T ABSORB DIRECTLY . THE PROCESS OF DIGESTION BREAKS THESE MOLECULES INTO SMALLER MOLECULES THAT CAN DISSOLVE IN BODY FLUIDS AND ENTER THE BLOOD. THE DIGESTIVE ORGANS PRODUCE A RANGE OF CHEMICALS CALLED "ENZYMES"
TO BREAK DOWN FOOD . EACH ENZYME ATTACKS A PARTICULAR TYPE OF FOOD MOLECULE

FATS

Butter and oil are sources of fat .Enzymes in the small intestine break down fat into fatty acid and monoglyceride molecule.

 PROTEINS

Meat and cheese are rich in protein . Enzymes in the stomach and small intestine break protein molecules into amino acid.
